I have random lock up of my keyboard on the laptop.  The mouse will still function but no letters or numbers.  Asus had me download a driver update but this has not helped.  I have to restart to get my keyboard back.  Can someone please help me?

    Hi Teresa,

Were there any changes (hardware or software) made to the computer prior to the issue?

Disabling the filter keys can resolve the issue. The issue could have also occured due to some keyboard shortcuts settings that is related to locking up of the keyboard.

Method 1: Disable the Filter keys and check if it works.

a: Type Ease of access in the start search box and hit enter.

b: Now click Change how your keyboard works

**c:**Remove the check mark from the box next to Turn on FilterKeys.

**d:**Click the blue Set Up FilterKeys link

e: Underneath Keyboard shortcut, remove the check mark from the box next to Turn on FilterKeys when right SHIFT is pressed for 8 seconds.

f: Now click Ok two times.

Method 2: If the issue persists, then you need to contact Asus support for better assistance.

Seriously.  A$$holes, why blithely recommend we perform an action that impossible when the problem precludes us from that ability?

    Hi,

The other person had a random lockout of the keyboard, moreover when he restarts the computer the keyboard comes back to work, therefore I had suggested that step.

Is your keyboard locked out permanently?
