Hi,

I think Constant Guard came from a previous service provider such as Comcast. I now have a different provider and I also have Norton 360 installed on my computer as well as protection through my provider. Should I remove constant guard or can I just turn it off. I read in a forum that the two may in conflict.

Original title: Constant Guard or Norton 360

    Hi,

Yes you only want one major antivirus running as they can interfere with each other and

cause strange issues while lowering your security. Uninstall all except one. Constant Guard

is provided by Xfinity/Comcast and add services other than antivirus. And Xfinity/Comcast

also offers Norton and other services for free.

So keep Constant Guard if you wish and use Norton or any one antivirus.

If you do need to uninstall an antivirus do so and then run its maker's removal tool to

    prevent trouble causing remnants.

Are you running Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 or Windows Vista?

Are you still a Comcast Xfinity subscriber?

Is Norton 360 installed or is it the other Comcast freebie, Norton Security Suite (which is NOT the same as Norton 360, no matter what the adverts claim)?

If it's Norton 360, when (exact date) does your current subscription expire?

Is Constant Guard Protection Suite and/or Norton Security Suite listed in Programs and Features?

I think Constant Guard came from a previous service provider such as Comcast. I now have a different provider and I also have Norton 360 installed on my computer as well as protection through my provider...

Comcast Xfinity's Constant Guard Protection Suite included Norton Security Suite.

    • Fact: Norton (and McAfee) applications are notorious for not uninstalling (or upgrading) cleanly.

Did you (a) uninstall Constant Guard Protection Suite and Norton Security Suite (if it was listed separately) as well as Norton LiveUpdate & any Norton Add-ons (ditto) AND THEN (b) download/run the Norton Removal Tool & reboot (c) AND THEN do a clean install of your new ISP's Norton application?

Note: Despite what ISPs may tell you, Norton 360 and Norton Security Suite are not the same application.

May I ask who's your new ISP?
