Previous version of Mouse & Keyboard Center

In a Windows 7 update on April 15, I installed a recommended update to the Windows Mouse and Keyboard Center.  Since then, I've had problems with the mouse cursor suddenly disappearing and the the computer locking up.  I used Windows Restore to restore my computer to a time before installing the update.  Now the M&K software doesn't work at all and I'm told I should reinstall it.  I'd like to install the previous version that I know was working ok, but don't know how to get it.  Is it possible to download it from some place?  I don't know the version number; the current version seems to be 2.3.188.

Thanks - I found the previous version (2.2) of M&KC as you suggested.  However I've now run into a different problem.  I tried to uninstall the corrupted version of M&KC but got the message that it couldn't be uninstalled because a file(?) was missing.  I used Revo Uninstaller to remove all references to it that it could find, and M&KC no longer appears in the list of installed software.  However when I try to install the version of M&KC I just downloaded I get the message that "this software version is already installed on the system".

I ran the "Control Panel/Troubleshooting/Configure a device" troubleshooter but it found no problems.

    How can I proceed?

Control Panel - Device Manager - Mice and pointing devices - Driver tab - Rollback driver.

    See if that helps.

    If not :

Look closer for it in Installed Updates.

I tried undoing the original restore.  Now I'm back to where M&KC shows again under installed programs.  However I still can't uninstall it (or run it), getting the message "one or more of the required installation files are missing or damaged.  Run Setup again from the software CD-ROM or another reliable installation source."  (But of course trying to install the downloaded version simply says I have to uninstall the old version - Catch 22!)

Looking at Control Panel/Windows Update/Update History, I see "Microsoft - Pointing Drawing - Microsoft Hardware USB Wireless Mouse" and "Microsoft - Keyboard - Microsoft Hardware USB Keyboard" updates made on April 15.  However neither appears under Installed Updates, so I can't use that to uninstall it.

[I've had the mouse for considerably longer than 90 days (and I believe I contacted Hardware Support shortly after getting the mouse), so I think it's no longer eligible for support.]

Try uninstalling the update that loaded the other version.

Control Panel - Windows Update - lower left Installed Updates. You may need to re-install

the offending version and then remove from Windows Updates.

Check with Support as indicated above.

You probably also will want to stop Windows Update from re-installing that driver (once you

have the correct one running) :
