Try right-clicking on your pinter in Devices and Printers and selecting Printer Properties (not Properties). Now click on Ports tab. Near the bottom there should be a tickbox labelled, Enable bidirectional support.
Where is the "enable bidirectional communication" setting in my printer properties dialog?
I have windows 7. When I click to print something, I get a screen saying ......turn on "enable bidirectional communication" setting in printer properties dialog. Every printer properties dialog I've gone to does not have it. How do I get there to turn it on?

I have the same problem and followed your steps, but the check-box " Enable bidirectional support" is disabled with the port USB001-Virtual printer port, where my printer is hooked up, checked out. When I call our a dialog "Configure Port..." (button), I get "An error occurred during port configuration. This operation is not supported"

2011-07-25T07:45:06+00:00 Thankyou,
I got there. It was not on. I turned it on. Unfortunately, I'm getting another "printer not communicating" message; Check firewall settings to ensure dleacoms.exe is not blocked. Again, I go to McAfee Security Center, click on firewall, then settings, and I can't find "dleacoms.exe". Can you help me find that? Trust me, when I get the printer going again, the first thing I'm printing is THIS PAGE!
