Instead of trying to import from start page on iphone, I opened an app (any app) and was able to import from there. Worth a try!
Error Code: 0x8000FFFF catastrophic failure
Hi, I've been trying to import photos and videos off of my phone onto my laptop and it won't work. I've done it before, but for some reason when I've attempted to do it now, the app crashes and then when I reopen it, it says that there was a problem importing my pictures. If someone has had the same problem and knows how to fix it, I'd really appreciate the advice!

2014-03-06T20:41:40+00:00 Hi,
- At what point do you get this error message?
- Are you able to just copy and paste the photos from the camera directly to the PC instead of importing it through the Photo app?
Once you have copied the pictures to the PC, try opening them using Windows Photo Viewer.
Right-click on the pictures and choose Open With and choose Windows Photo Viewer.
0x8000FFFF Catastrophic failure may be caused by windows system files damage. It can also be a problem with the app itself.
I would suggest you to follow these methods and check if it helps.
Method 1: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
**Method 2:**If only the Photo app is crashing, then you may try syncing the app license.
Sync app licenses
If a license for an app is out of sync with the license installed on your PC, the app might stop working.
To sync your app licenses, follow these steps:
a. On the Start screen, tap or click Store to open the Windows Store.
b. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.)
c. Tap or click App updates.
d. Tap or click Sync licenses.
Also, run the Apps troubleshooter. The App troubleshooter checks for
Some security settings are missing or have been changed
-Service registration is missing or corrupt
-Your system administrator has turned off some settings.
-You are not connected to the Internet.
-User Account Control (UAC) has been disabled.
Let us know if it helps. If the issue persists, we will be happy to help you further.

2014-03-06T21:11:26+00:00 HI acwxo,
I'd like to get some clarifying information so I can forward this issue appropriately.
- Are you using the Photos app on Windows 8.1 to import your images?
- Have you installed all updates and rebooted since then?
- Are you seeing the 0x8000FFFF error as a popup dialog on Desktop, or somewhere in the Photos app?
- When you try to reopen the Photos app, does it continue to crash? Or does it launch properly?
- Can you attach a screenshot seeing this issue?
- Does this issue happen 100% of the time you try to import your photos?

2015-08-31T14:57:15+00:00 I get this error every time I upload pictures from my Nikon camera. Usually, a majority of the pictures transfer but there's always some that don't. Any advice? Thanks!
