Original Title: Sound on TV

Hi I currently plug my laptop to a Samsung Monitor with a HDMI cable, but I cannot hear any sound from the Monitor. The sound on the laptop is ok. I can see the duplicate of my laptop screen on the monitor, but I cannot hear any sound, not even the simplest music, NOT even the Windows greeting sound.

Thanks, but everything seems to be working perfectly according to the system. the computer does switch to the monitor when I connect it, but it seems that the sound is disable/disconnected.

The HDMI interface in most cases is its own sound device independent of the main computer sound chip.

Go to Control Panel > Sound and check the playback device. See if there is a separate option for the HDMI interface, with the monitor connected make that the default device and it should switch to it when the screen is connected.
