I have a movie that's 25 mins long, and I want to remove chunks from within it to shorten the time. I see the trim tool handles the start and the end, what about the in between?

    Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Community Forum. I understand that you want to trim your video from the middle using the trim tool within Movie Maker. I will assist you on your inquiry.

To remove the middle part of the video, you can use the Split tool of Movie Maker. To do this, please follow the steps below:

    1. Open Movie Maker and your video.
    2. Go to Edit panel on the upper part of the screen.
    3. Adjust the slider below the preview panel of Movie Maker to the starting point of the part that you want to delete.
    4. Click Split.
    5. Adjust the slider to the end point of the part that you want to delete and click Split.
    6. Now, you can delete it by right clicking the part and hit Remove.

We hope that this answers your inquiry.

Let us know the results afterwards.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Sorry for not responding on your issue on a timely manner. I'll be happy to help you with issue that when splitting video it is deleting the remaining part of the video. For us to isolate your issue kindly provide the following information:

-What Operating System are you using?

**For Windows 8:**1. Press Windows + R, input AppWiz.cpl, then click OK.

    2. Search for Windows Essentials 2012 on the list and then select it.

    1. Click Uninstall/Change.
    2. Click Repair all Windows Essentials programs.

    For Windows Vista/7:

    1. Click the Start menu.
    2. Click Control Panel.
    3. Click Programs.
    4. Click Programs and Features.
    5. Search for Windows Essentials 2012 on the list and then select it.
    6. Click Uninstall/Change.

I have used the split key numerous times as I make videos for class each week. However, I am now trying to use the split function and instead of it "splitting" as it usually does, it is deleting the remainder of hte video. Any advice?

Hello.  I have win 8.  I cannot find trim tools in my version of MM.  I have seen youtube videos showing how to segment long videos into shorter versions and then paste back together.  Ie, take a 25 min video and slice out segments and put them back together say, in a 1 minute video.  I would also like to do this with other videos by cutting a few different videos and then paste those segments together to make an entirely new video.   How is this done?  Thank you.
