LifeChat LX-6000 Audio feedback/monitor

I got an LX-6000 a few days ago, and from the moment I tried to use it, as SOON as I enable the microphone to speak, I hear myself, and every single little sound on my end (breathing, coughing, ambient noises, etc). Like the mic audio is fed back through the headphones (like a monitor).

What I want to know is, is this normal? Some sort of feature? And how do I turn it off?

Before anyone asks, yes, I tried it on another computer. Yes, same thing. So what gives???

There is nothing of help or value on the "Key Features" portion of the page, as far as configuration, settings or usage.

I've also contacted support, who were unable to do anything but bounce me around from department to department, until I got sent to "Billing & Accounts".

So.... I guess the answer might be to send it back and buy something else.

Since I can't mark my own response as an answer... now what?

Went with a replacement from the original vendor, since Microsoft was never able (or willing) to help me in any way over the phone. If the replacement fails, I'm through with it.
