What is "PXI - other hardware - HID compliand device"?  It was listed in my Windows Update (Windows 7 Home) under optional downloads, and is spelled "compliand" in the update.  I'm not sure what it is, not finding much info on this title on the web, was curious if anyone else knows about it.

Thanks!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Community Forum.

A human interface device or HID is a type of computer device that interacts directly with, and most often takes input from, humans and may deliver output to humans.

HID stands for Human Interface Device. This means that you can connect the HID devices to the USB port.

USB mice and keyboards are the most common human interface devices, but the class has expanded to include joysticks, trackballs and any other tool that allows humans to interact with computers.

Download the latest HID-compliant Device driver to improve your PC performance and stability, fix driver errors and resolves driver conflicts. This driver download is highly recommended to all HID-compliant Device which is Windows 7 compatible. Please follow the instructions below to download HID-compliant Device driver.

I see your question NEVER got answered directly and I will avoid installing the update personally because if someone doesn't use proper terminology or spelling I immediately smell a rat.

Just to add more info: On Win 7 Pro or 10 Pro, I also get this update, but it only shows up if I am using a specific mouse/keyboard (Coolermaster CMStorm mouse keyboard combo) and it changes the mouse in device manager from standard "HID USB Mouse" (from memory, something like that) to "ELECOM USB Mouse". An Elecom Tilt Wheel mouse...that I do not even own. I assume my mouse uses an Elecom chip or something that triggers this? No idea. The keyboard remains as generic "HID Keyboard Device".

The "driver" seems completely pointless, and I avoid it on Win 7, but I have not noticed any ill effects on Win 10 where it is forcibly installed. NOTHING, especially drivers, should ever be forced M$, never...EVER!

You explained what PXI and what a HID compliant device is, but you didn't answer the question. There is an update in Windows 7 that shows "PXI - other hardware - HID compliand device". What is that particular update for? Why is it in the update list? People are leery of installing it because "compliant" is misspelled as "compliand". Thank you.

    Sorry for late reply.

I agree that the answer is not totally clear.

On the top, this very old update still pops out nowadays, in march 2016  ! (see screenshot below)

How can an outdated software can be an update then ?

Besides that, the Device Manager does not show up missing drivers / misinstalled devices.

So the "PXI - other hardware - HID compliand device" seems to be totally useless.
