installed windows 8.1 yesterday (big Mistake) a lot of changes happened and I have figured out most of them....I have a 27" widescreen monitor that is now showing a black bar all 4 sides of the screen that when I was using windows 8 it used the whole screen. I have not been able to get the full screen back and have tried settings on the monitor and windows to no avail.....has anyone else encountered this problem and if so did you resolve it...Help!!

Hi Kevin,
I understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected.
If you have a Catalyst Contol Cetner, then you might have to set scaling options in Catalyst control center to full screen under the Digital panel.
Kindly, follow these steps to update the display driver.
a. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
b. Tap or click Update and recovery and then tap or click Windows Update.
c. Tap or click View details, and tap or click Check for updates. (If you don't see View details, there aren't any optional updates available.)
d. Under Optional, tap or click the update that you want to install, then clickInstall.
If no updated drivers are available through Windows Update, check the website of the manufacturer of your video card to see if they have updated drivers available

I don't believe this PC uses NVIDIA grahics...it says it uses AMD Radeon HD 7540D Graphics...either way I don't know how to access the settings for the Graphics driver...I have tried, but I am not a computer guy and have limited knowledge in this area, maybe you can guide me a little about how to access the Graphics driver settings...thanks for all your help so far....Kevin
Hi,
Gateway DX4380G user Nvidia graphics card drivers. Please go into the Nvidia Control Panel and adjust the scaling option.
Hi RajithR., all the steps you outlined in your reply I have tried... and tried again after reading your reply....my PC is a gateway DX4380G. I still have the same problem....all Drivers are up to date including the Graphics card(I checked all of them)...I am not sure if I have a catalyst control center or not...thats what I have been looking for, somewhere there is an option for scaling the display screen and I have not been able to find that...and yes this is very frustrating, hopefully you will be able to help me...thanks, Kevin
