1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller

Since installing windows 7 my 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller which I think has something to do with Firewire and also reading my SD cards doesn't work. Seems to be a  driver issue. Windows troubleshooter as usual is helpless to help and cannot seem to find a driver for it. I tried installing the \Legacy\ driver supplied with Windows 7 as suggested elsewhere for a similar problem but the installation process itself times out! now what_!

Hi gramail,

Along with what Debra has mentioned, you can also try the followng steps.

Go to device manager and then uninstall the 1394 drivers. Now choose Scan for hardware changes by clicking on the Action tab on the top.

Windows will try to find the drivers for the 1394.

Now check if the 1394 Firewire works as expected or not.

If this did not work, then follow the steps mentioned by PC_Tester (dated Monday, November 23, 2009 4:04 AM) in the link

Hope this information is helpful.

I have followed every step mentioned in this and other posts relating to this problem, however in my case it has not been resolved. I'm running Win7 Home Premium 64bit and wish to connect a firewire audio interface. Every driver I choose gives me the same result: Code 10 Error: This device cannot start. I have read this is a driver error, however updating, reinstalling or even installing a different manufacturer driver did not help, I have tried changing the ports on both the interface and the firewire card. Nothing helps.

    What should I do next?????

    Hi gramail,

The Code 10 error is a driver error, meaning the driver for the device need to be installed/reinstalled.

By the way it also says> This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Although it said the installation was cancelled, Device manager shows the Legacy driver now. But it still doesn\t work...
