Intex IT-305WC webcam not working on the computer

Original Title: Intex IT-305WC (Webcam)

I have just bought an Intex IT-305WC webcam, a few hours back. Now when i connect it to my Desktop running Windows 8 with Media Centre, it shows the drivers being installed. But when i turn on the camera app, nothing is displayed. I also installed the drivers which came the webcam though it said for Windows 7, Vista and XP.

Problem is i start webcam app, Windows restarts. It happens every time i start the camera. uninstalled the drivers and then system does not restart, but like before the Camera app shows nothing.

My Desktop has 1 TB HDD, AMD Athlon X2 260 Processor, 4GB RAM on a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 motherboard and an Acer S191HQl Monitor.

Do i have to return the webcam or is there a workaround.

    Hi Prakash,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community and we are glad to assist you on this issue.

From the description of the query, you are unable to use the new webcam “Intex IT-305WC” connected to the computer as the computer restarts when you start the webcam and nothing shows up when you open camera app on the computer.

This could be an issue with the driver for the webcam connected to the computer or an issue with the camera app on the computer.

I would like to inform you that the webcam is compatible with Windows 8. You can refer to the link to check using Windows compatibility center:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/ProductViewerWithDefaultFilters?TempOsid=win8&Locale=en-us&TextSearch=Intex%2BIT-305WC&Type=Both&CurrentPage=0&TotalPages=1&ShowCriteria=0&SortCriteria=Relevance&Compatibility=Unknown&LastRequested=14

There are no drivers available for the webcam for Windows 8 at the manufacturer website.

Since, you have mentioned that the webcam driver is for Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows Vista; we may have to uninstall and reinstall the driver in Windows compatibility mode.

However, let’s run the hardware and device troubleshooter to check if it finds any issue with the webcam connected to the computer.

    You can follow the methods:

    Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter for Windows 8 and check for the

    issue.

Note: Hardware and Device troubleshooter checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

Please refer to the link below:

Follow the section “Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter”.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/what-device-isnt-installed-properly

    Method 2:

I would suggest you to uninstall the current version of the camera driver installed on the computer and then install the driver in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

You can follow the steps to install the driver in Windows compatibility mode:

    Step 1:

Uninstall the current version of the camera driver on the laptop:

    a) Press Windows and x together on the desktop screen.

    b) Select Device Manager.

    c) Locate imaging devices and expand the driver icon.

    d) Right Click on the camera driver icon and click on **Properties.**e) Click on Uninstall.

    Step 2:

You can install the driver for the camera in Windows compatibility mode:

Follow the section “Apply a compatibility mode”:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/get-apps-devices-working

    Method 3:

I would also suggest you to check if the Privacy settings for the Camera app has been enabled.

You can follow the steps to turn on the privacy settings for the camera app:

    a) Type camera app on the Start Screen and click on Camera app.

    b) Press Windows and c key together to open settings bar and select Settings option.

    c) Click on Permissions.

    d) Move the slider to the right to turn on the privacy settings for the Camera app.

Check if you are able to access the camera.

Please reply us with the status of this issue.

Feel free to let us know if you have any other query on issues related to hardware and drivers on Windows and we would be happy to help you.
