Is there a keyboard shortcut to open a folder in a new window?

How do I open a folder in a new window instead of the same window by using a mouse-click in combination with a keyboard shortcut? I know you can change ""open each folder in its own window" under Tools/Folder Options, but I do not want to change the default

  • I just want to click on a folder and open it as a new window once in a while.

hi

here are the vista keyboard shorts

Keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts can make it easier to interact with your computer because you don't need to use the mouse as often.

The shift-double-click doesn't work as expected all the time, as you may be selecting another folder at first, so the selection will extend and you end up opening all the folders in the range between the two folders in separate windows.

My solution that worked since the days of XP is to double-click as usual, but hold down Ctrl in the duration of the second click, i.e. click, control-click (but the clicks must be fast enough to be a double-click). After a while, you will get used to it.

Ctrl + enter (when you have the folder selected)

    Ugh Microsoft is so unhelpful.

Simply press shift and double click the left mouse button (or single click if that's how you have your file explorer preferences set) o n the folder you want opened in a new window.  \

The same applies for, say, a link you want opened in a new window while you're browsing (except you probably only have to single click)

I found this information out from a really helpful webpage:

You just cut and paste some links based on a few trigger words in my question  -  but these do not provide an answer. Please don't do this! If you know the relevant answer, please provide it. If you can't answer the question, please do not respond. Thank you!
