Sharing Internet Connection through Bluetooth "Allow Bluetooth devices to use your modem to connect to the Internet " greyed out

Original Title: Sharing Internet Connection through Bluetooth

Which services need to be running to "Allow Bluetooth devices to use your modem to connect to the Internet or to send fax)

Presently this option is grayed out, I intentionally turned off Windows features (Print and document Service and all of its sub services among other services) since I have no use for any of it and they consume unnecessary resources, but it might be causing Internet sharing through Bluetooth to be unavailable.

All I need it for my Windows phone Lumia 710 to connect to the Internet through my Windows 7 Pro Bluetooth (Broadcom BCM20702 with the most updated driver), currently this option is grayed out in the (Bluetooth - Settings - Share Tab), and I suspect it must have to do with disabling few services from starting up.

    Hi Magdy,

You will need to enable the services related to the Bluetooth connection on the laptop in order to start the Internet connection between the Windows phone and the laptop.

First of all, make sure that Bluetooth Support Service is running on the computer in Automatic mode.

Follow the steps to do so:

    • Press Windows+R keys to open Run. Type “servces.msc” without quotes and hit Enter.
    • From the list of services, locate the Bluetooth Support Serviceand Bluetooth Service.
    • Right click on the Bluetooth Support Service and then click on properties.
    • Check if the service is running. If not, start the service and change the Startup type to Automatic.

Follow the steps from the link to know how to enable the services required to connect Bluetooth devices:

I went through these procedures twice, religiously, two minor problems:

Even the most updated Broadcom Bluetooth driver is looking for a dial-up modem not a high speed LAN adapter, it looks like a legacy outdated Bluetooth adapter and won't recognizes my LAN adapter, otherwise it is in perfect working order, it gives me access to my phone music, SMS, Mail and everything else but Internet sharing. Not to mention, Microsoft placed so many restrictions on Windows phone 7.5 it is futile to try to defeat Microsoft, I surrender!

Since everything is in perfect working order, I consider this issue resolved.

Thanks so much for your help, the adapter seems to be working within its limited perimeters.
