Hi guys, I am in urgent need of your help.  I have a server with Win 7 and a Client with Win7.  I have a POS that prints directly

to Lpt port and does use a windows printer driver.  After sharing the printer on the server, as I always do, I am able to caputure

and print to the server from my Client Machine using XP.  However, I am experiencing an "Access Denied" error on my Win7 Client computer when I successfully run the Net Use Lptx \Server\Generic (which says OK).  I tried almost everything in the book. Can u please hlp me asap?

NOTE: Pls bear in mind that my Win7 Client computer doesnt have a local lpt port, therefore, theres no conflict, further, Ive used all ports (lpt1 - 3).  And secondly, there's no firewall or anit-virus which is denying access

Thanks in advance.

Im sorry, not finding you answer helpful.  As u asked, I am able to printer other through printer driver in windows.  What I am unable to do is print directly to Lpt (dos). When I (Net Use Lptx \server\printername) it is successfully done, but I test it with (Dir >Lptx) it says "Access Denied".  Again, my client and Server computer are running Win 7.  I have no prob with the Win XP

Sorry, if you can print to the shared printer in the usual manner from a standard Windows program, than I don't have any further suggestions for why you get Access Denied with attempting to print using the net use command.

Can you print from the Win 7 client using a program, e.g., Notepad, that can print to ports other than LPTx?

If so, step 2a here may work --> http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/printfromdos.htm
