Hi Sheryl,

I guess the answer to your question is in thread How do I remove the unknown account (S-1-15-3-4096)?

And to "why can't I get this question answered? In simple terms": this might be because people participating to this community are mainly volunteers, with their own level of expertise, they don't necessarily have the answer to all questions... (like me) and sometimes answers are a few clicks away from the Search button.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Lz.

    Hi Sheryl,

The Community is organized by product then by version of product. The link I provided was in the "Windows 8" bucket, not in Windows 8.1.

The two versions are not that different so my suggestion would be to proceed as follow if you search for something regarding Windows 8.x:

    1. Go to Categories at the top of the Community page
    2. Select Windows in the drop down menu
    3. Make your search from there

Make the test and simply copy (S-1-15-3-4096) then paste this into the Search text box + [Enter]. This should bring something like:

It is true that non-Windows 8.x threads might be brought to your attention as the search is made on all versions of Windows (we chose Windows only at #2 and not Windows 8 or Windows 8.1) but I strongly believe it's a better approach than selecting a product version (the search is more restrictive) except if the issue relates to a feature that didn't exist in prior versions.

Hope this all makes sense & help

    Cheers

    Lz.
