I have a CD which has family photos on it. Windows 7 Ultimate recognizes it when I install the CD in the laptop drive, and shows CDFS as the file system, but does not show the files(photos). The problem was "fixed" when I changed my settings to "show hidden folders" - then the files were there and played fine.
Windows 7 Recognises CDFS CD But Won't Run Its Contents
I have been having difficulty accessing the files on a CDFS formatted CD-R, on my Windows 7 (SP1) laptop.
The DVD drive recognises the disk, and even shows its logo, but if I try to open it to view the contents or try to autorun the disk nothing happens. The disc drive just whirls away but makes absolutely no progress.
Only on two occasions have I been able to read the root area of the disc. Once in Windows Explorer and a second time using the Command Prompt. But, I could never get any further than that. And, I can't even get that far now. But, it might suggest that it is, in fact, reading it but just very slowly?
I've been searching online without any luck on finding a solution. I have applied a registry fix, suggested in a forum, by changing the cdfs Start value to '1' rather than '4'. This did not resolve the issue. I have also tried using a MS Fix It to try and identify problems with the DVD drive.
I'm at a total loss now and I can't figure out how to get the laptop to run the disc.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks,
Del.

2014-01-07T14:09:43+00:00 Okay so to add to the above. If I try to access the CD in Windows Explorer, and am extremely patient with it then I can see the contents of the disc. It still, however, struggles to show the appropriate icon for each file and still does not allow me to run them.
The autorun even opened at one point after leaving it trying to run for at least 30 minutes. But, when I clicked the Install button (it's software that is on the disc) it just told me it couldn't run the setup.

2014-01-07T16:31:17+00:00 Sometimes having "exclusive mode" enabled "blocks" an audio CD so if this is an audio CD try disabling "exclusive mode":
Right-click the speaker icon in the Notification area of the Taskbar > Playback devices >then under the "Playback" tab click on "Speakers" (or the Default Device) > Properties > Advanced > then remove the checkmark in front of "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" > OK

2014-01-07T20:48:53+00:00 Have you tested another disk to rule out a hardware error?
