AMD Vision Engine Control Center with Windows Installer Icon listed in Programs And Features

I have an Asus N56DP with preinstalled windows 8 upgraded to 8.1. I installed the following optional update.

I then noticed the following listed in Programs and Features. The Reliability Monitor showed that Windows Installer stopped during the process but the installation was a success. Does this take the place of AMD Catalyst Install Manager? I would appreciate some insight on this.

Hi Dave

The AMD Catalyst Install Manager is designed to install the Drivers for the AMD graphics device.

The AMD VISION Engine Control Center replaces the Catalyst Control Center on systems with an AMD CPU.

It doesn't matter how the drivers or utilities are installed, the results will be the same.

If you did not specifically install the AMD driver from the AMD website, then the driver may have been installed by Windows Update. You can check this by checking the Installed Updates option in Windows Update.

Regards

Hi Dave,

The AMD Catalyst Control Center works with systems consisting of an Intel CPU and AMD Graphics. But, the AMD Vision Engine Control Centre is optimized for systems containing an AMD CPU and AMD Graphics.

Refer to the link to get the details on both the features required for the graphics card’s driver:

Perhaps, the AMD vision control center was installed when you installed the drivers (if you have installed) for the AMD card. It shows that it was installed at 6/2/14. It would be better if you can check if the updates were installed at the same time. Also, even though, reliability monitor showed that the Windows installer stopped, the updates might have got installed at a different moment of time (when there were no issues).

Please  let us know if you need more assistance on the issue.

    Hi Pinaki,

Thanks for your reply. I am still confused . I haven't ever had the AMD Vision Engine Control Center ,with Windows Icon, show up as a separate program before. Is this a Microsoft product? There isn't a publisher name after it. Is this because I used  a Windows update to install it? I have used AMD's Catalyst Install Manager in the past to in stall their driver suites.  AMD Vision Engine Control Center has never shown up as a separate program, but, it did open properly. My PC has AMD Processor with AMD Dual Graphics. In the future should I use AMD or Windows Installer?

Thanks for some advice on this,                                                                                                                          Dave
