New Printer "Canon Pixma IP2770 driver installation failure"

Anonymous

Hello everyone!

I have a problem with regards to the installation of my new canon pixma ip2770, it is indeed a new printer, but it seems to there is a problem accessing the device, the printer is visible at the device manager, with the yellow exclamation point on it, i tried downloading the driver for the printer but it cannot detect the printer when I continue with the installation.

These are some of the steps i tried that did not work:

  1. Run the driver installer in compatibility mode
  2. Tried to update driver from the device manager option
  3. Turned on and off the print spooler under the adm-tools/services
  4. Install/uninstall driver, from cd and from the software that i downloaded.

Thank you in advance.

Canon printers a real sensative with driver/software installs,if you

dont do it right the 1st time it can be a problem...1st,once printer is

plugged in & OS starts, you recieve found new hardware, the OS installer

    starts,let it run w/o any input,but at the same time,open the software/

drivers from canon, they run auto, the OS installer will complete once all

from canon are installed..You need to chk canon for multiple downloads,

start with the 1st...Also,with a failed installation like you had, sometimes

you need to plug into a diffrent port, this lets you start from scratch...

    Thanks for the reply,

I have tried to install the latest printer driver, and unfortunately, it did not work, I forgot to mention that I have also tried to install another canon printer ip1980 on my laptop, still I got the same problem. When I try to update the driver from online, it says something like this "Device driver was not successfully installed", when I tried to search update from my computer it says "Windows has found a driver for your device but couldn't install, access is denied".

I also tried to install the device on safe mode thinking some applications try to block the process, still did not work for me, it gives me this message "Windows has found a driver for your device but couldn't install, access is denied" then i checked the install error under device manager/device properties

    its error 00000005

    Thanks again..

    Hi,

Be sure to contact Canon Support.

Be sure you are logged in as ADMIN.

If you have ANY printers installed now uninstall them ALL and reboot.

    ===============================================================

Use this spooler troubleshooter to see if you can clear all and then re-install the printer. (It will

help to ensure the printers are removed.) Do ALL of these and not just some.

Check with the printer maker for updated drivers and their Support and Forums for known issues.

Check chan vu's message here - the very top one.

    ===================================

Do these as sort of prerequisites :

Clean up general corruption and repair/replace any damaged/missing files.

Run DiskCleanup - Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup

Start - type this in Search Box ->  COMMAND   find at top and RIGHT CLICK  -  RUN AS ADMIN

    Then run checkdisk (chkdsk).

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Go to Printer maker's Site and get the latest drivers - Download - SAVE - do not install yet.

When ready to install - Right Click on the driver - Run As Admin.

Also check with your Printer Maker's Support and any Forums.

Use this method to clear the spooler then uninstall and reinstall your printer (check with the maker for

    the latest driver).

Check the Mr Fixits here and if you have to use the other methods go back and try them again afterwards.

    Hi,

If this is not a driver issue then there is a setting or hardware problem and you

    will need to contact Canon.

As OEM Canon is responsible for the proper operation of the printer and their

supplied drivers. Check with Canon Support, their on-line documentation, and

    drivers.

Good chance you need to update or re-install the latest available driver.
