Epson Workforce DS-30 Scanner was working and now isn't.

I have Windows 7 x64 that I had the scanner working on and recently after an auto update it no longer does.  I did the uninstall and reinstall.  The computer recognizes that the scanner is present and says it is working but when I go to use it it says the driver is missing.  I gone out to Epson to get the most recent driver and tried installing that but I would get access denied.  I thought I have administrator rights but I right clicked on the install and clicked run as administrator but still get access denied.  What do I need to do to get it working?

    Hello ConradO’Connell,

Thank you for keeping us updated about the issue.

If issue is still persisting and you are sure that after installing the Windows Update issue occurs, then I would suggest you to try System restore and see if it works for you.

    System Restore

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore

System Restore disclaimer: When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed.

Hope this would help. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of proposed suggestion, we will be happy to assist you.

    Thank you.

I've done the steps outlined above and everything looks like it has installed properly until I get to the very end and the returned error is "Access Denied".

I have two other printers on a network that I have access to and are "All in One" printers.  The scanning ability stopped working on those also.  I removed the device for both and added them back but still don't have scanning ability on those two printers.

What else can I try?  They all worked fine before 15 May when a number of Windows Updates occured.

    Hello ConradO’Connell,

Thank you for updating us regarding the issue.

    1. Have you tried to install any other program or software? Was the result same or different?
    2. Have you opened the command prompt in administrator mode (elevated) or normal mode?

Please try to enable default Administrator and check the status in that profile. Try to follow the steps provided in the previous post to run the commands.****For more clarification you can refer to the below mentioned image.

First you’ll need to open a command prompt in administrator mode by right-clicking and choosing “Run as administrator” (or use the Ctrl+Shift+Enter shortcut from the search box).

    Now type the following command:

    net user administrator /active:yes

You should see a message that the command completed successfully. Log out, and you’ll now see the Administrator account as a choice.

Hope this would do the trick. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of proposed suggestion, we will be glad to assist you.

    Regards.

I tried this and it still doesn't work.  When I tried to do the default Administrator step it gave me an error on the /acive:yes part that it was not a valid command.

I am on a home network but not connected to a domain.  Also see now that my printers scanner can't connect to either.

    Hello ConradO’Connell,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community Forum.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    1. Are you able to install any other program on your computer successfully or facing the same issue?
    2. Is your computer connected to a Domain network?

I would suggest you to enable default Administrator and check the status in that profile. We are trying to check that is the issue related to the profile through which you are logged in or the issue is related to the driver software.

Steps to enable default Administrator are as below:

    • Go to Start, click All Programs and open Accessories.
    • Right click on Command Prompt in the Program list and then select Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click OK.
    • In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    Net user administrator /acive:yes

Note: There is space between net, user, administrator and*/*** ****
