How to install Family Tree Maker 2014,

Help Please to make a program run on 8.1. Its a family tree kinda software new version 2014. I bought it off a safe site & its the 2nd version of the software. I have bought the last one which was a 2010 version but doesn't work on windows 8 and needed the newer version.  Tried many things I downloaded it to my desktop. Help please have a reunion in two weeks.

    Thank you Vijay B for all the information you gave me in the links. On reading more about the program she bought and knowing what she really had on her computer was a big help. This is the link I found to be useful and able to realize she didn't download it right.

    Yes my sister installed Family Tree Maker. I was trying to help her on the phone, because she installed it a week ago & haven't been able to open it or get it to run. I don't remember the exact and complete error message she got. But I had her to run though her laptop & answer several question about her system & her updates. Thank you so much I just read all the links and about this program more. She has the ram & hd to run it.

    One thing I was concerned about, finding out she has her updates turned to auto update & never checked back to see if they were running as should be or needing attention.  There were many optional updates listed to be installed on her system. Also she hadn't heard anything about IE having any issues all these months bought her laptop Dec 2013.I told her to only use Foxfire or Chrome until she is willing to believe how serious the IE fixes need to be installed.

    I checked each of the links you listed and saved them to help her again. I did have her to use another administrator account also to run it compatibility with a old version of windows. She has window 7 and the same software but older and it doesn't do everything shes needing for this reunion on Saturday. She is very talented & organized in planning events. So shes not going back to to old one version.

    1. Did you try installing Family Tree Maker 2014?
    2. If you have tried installing and if you are not able to install, What is the exact and complete error message you get?
    3. Did you check if your computer meets minimum system requirements to install Family Tree Maker 2014?
