    Hello All:

Thank you for the details.  There are a couple of things I would like to suggest or get additional feedback on.  Before we go into that I did want to highlight something that has been mentioned in this thread.  It looks like a refresh of the OS does resolve this issue for many.  For anyone having this issue on an RT, please try this and verify that the issue is no longer present.

One thing those that have yet to refresh might try is to uninstall and reinstall any applications being used to view these videos.  I have seen some reports of issues like this being related to applications that do not get all the proper updates.

Besides the refresh one other thing I have seen some reports of causing this issue are troubles with the audio or audio enhancements.  Please go to the desktop view on your Surface and tap and hold the volume icon.  Select sounds from the pop up menu > go to the playback tab > highlight the speakers option > select properties > go to the enhancements tab > check the "Disable all enhancements" box > tap OK.  Once you have done this, restart the Surface and try the videos again.

Please let us know if you have any new details to share regarding this issue.

    Mark W.

i'm still seeing this on my SurfaceRT running 8.1.

i think i've narrowed it down to video with AC3 encoded audio, but it could be multichannel (>stereo) in general.

    Hello keppn:

Thank you for the post.  As mentioned throughout this thread, this is not an issue with the application but an issue with the device you are playing files over.  I have not seen this issue on any of the 10 + devices I use with Windows 8 nor have I seen any influx of posts regarding this error.  This leads me to further determine this is not related to any app update but something on your machine or with the sound card you are using.

At this point the only real suggestion I have is to do some of the testing discussed throughout this thread.  I would specifically try playing these videos via other programs or apps.  Some suggestions might be Windows Media Player, the Zune software, etc....  Additionally, I would suggest you try getting to another PC or tablet running Windows 8 and try playing these same files on this machine.  These tests should further tell you if the issue at hand is related to the files or your machine.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns we can assist you with.

I have the same Problem, but on a desktop-PC, running Windows 8.1   Since the last updates, 90% of the Xbox Video Content won't play back, giving error code 0xc00d36b4 (0xc00d36b4). Some Trailers do work though, but I can' t see a pattern.

Two weeks ago everything worked fine, so it has to relate to some kind of update. I also tried to disable Sound enhancements as described above, but there are no such Settings for my external Sound Card (Guitar Rig Session I/O).

I also tried the Windows Store App-Troubleshooter, as well as reinstalling the Xbox Video App, but that didn't help.

Any ideas how to get the App working again? Thanks in advance!

Hello Unicasia:<br><br><br> <br><br><br>At this point there is very little more to add.  Based on the issue and the several customers that have had this, the error is related to the device or the device settings.<br><br><br> <br><br><br>With that said, I would suggest you start by trying the steps outlined in this thread.  If you are willing to reset the OS again, start there and then work through the settings adjustments, uninstall and reinstall<br> of the app, clearing of the temp folder and others.  <br><br><br> <br><br><br>If you continue to get this error the issue is going to be the file or the device.  The best way to figure this out is to play other files within the application and see if any other videos work.  If they do not,<br> this is likely the device.  If other files play, the next thing to do is try and play this file via another device, specifically another Surface.  If the file fails to play elsewhere there is a good chance this file is just not compatible with your device. <br> If it does play, then we are again back to this being an issue with your Surface.<br><br><br> <br><br><br>Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns we can assist you with.'<br><br><br> <br><br><br>Mark W.
