Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller not working on 8.1?

Hello. I'm havin trouble with Realtek PCIe Family Controller driver. I can't use the LAN anymore so wireless is the only option. The driver worked fine on Windows 8 but since i switched to Windows 8.1 i can't use the Local Area Connection anymore. On device maneger the driver appears with the yellow "!".

I tryied to search automatically for updates but it appears is up to date. I tryied the driver from realtek's website - not working. Also from my laptop's site - still not working. So my only guess is that is not made compatible with 8.1 but only 8.

If that helps i've got windows 8.1 Pro up-to-date.

Hi Anil,

Thank you so much for your instructions.

My problem was the same as StefanB's.  It started after I updated Windows 8.1 on 08-12-2014.

Today (8-30-2014) I found your instructions.  So I went to Lenovo download site, and I got Realtek Driver

(v 8.2.612.2012).  Then I shut down my computer, and I waited for 60 seconds before starting  my computer again.  It worked.  My HYPER V computer can join the network.

I built my computer myself using following parts last DEC 2013.

                       Motherboard:  MSI H81M E33v2

                                      CPU:  Intel Pentium G3220

                                        OS:  Windows 8.1 Pro (64) Update 2

No, it didn't work. Same yellow triangle in device maneger.

I searched on google and i've seen a lot of people having the same error since windows 8.1.

Any ideea if microsoft will fix it? And if so, any date?

Yes you are right. Uninstall the driver from device manager and download the latest driver from manufacturer website and install it compatibility mode.

    Let us know the status.

So by reinstalling it in compatibility mode you mean i should uninstall the driver, after right click on the setup, change the compatibility options and then install it?

    Hi StefanB,

This issue can be caused if Realtek PCIe Family Controller driver is not compatible with Windows 8.1. I would suggest you to uninstall the reinstall the drivers in compatibility mode and check.
