The Brother MFC 8710DW printer does not communicate with the computer over the Wireless Home Network

I can't connect to my printer. Last month when I tried printing something, it went off without a hitch, but I had just purchased the printer. Now, my printer and computer won't communicate over the network. I'm running a Windows 7 rig, and this is the first issue I've had. I am trying to connect wirelessly with my own home LAN. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi RivCANuke,

Thank you so much for posting your query on this forum. I will try my best to assist you with this issue.

To assist you better, I would like to ask few questions regarding this issue.

    1. What exact happens when you try to print over the Wireless Home Network? Do you get any error message?
    2. If yes, what is the exact error message or code that you get?
    3. If the printer was working properly before, then what are the recent changes that you have made to the computer prior to this issue?

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if that resolves the issue.

Method 1: I cannot connect my machine to the wireless network (For Windows®)

Refer to the Troubleshooting article from the Brother’s website, given below and try the suggestions given in it.

If that doesn’t help, then try resetting the network settings for the printer to the factory default and then check the result.

Method 2: Reset the Network Settings for the Printer to the Factory Default

Please refer to the article given below and follow the suggestions given in it to reset the print server back to its default factory settings.

I have mfc-7840w and had similar problems, especially when changing the home network settings, or sometimes just because the router decided to allocate a different ip address to the printer.

Anyway, the solution is really simple - RE-install the printer software!

it is generally best to download the most updated software from:
