Static sound coming through the speakers

Original Title: Every time I adjust the volume on my laptop speakers, I get static

This morning, I turned my computer on to watch Netflix and I wasn't getting any sound from it, even though the sound was turned on and not muted. Figuring maybe I could solve it by just restarting my computer, I did, and when I turned my computer back on, all that was coming through the speakers was static. I tried restarting it again, but all I heard, again, was static. I tried Googling what was going on, but it didn't seem like anyone else was having a similar problem. I just recently got this computer, and I would be really really mad if something had already happened to it. I'm pretty frustrated already, so I would like it if someone could please tell me what is wrong and how I could fix think.

Thank you.

    Hi Ali,

I understand you frustration. It could be difficult when things don't work the way it should be on a brand new computer. However; let's try to narrow down to see what is causing this issue and try to fix it.

Please assist me with the following information related to this issue:

    1. What is the make and model of the computer?
    2. Does this behavior occurs only while watching videos on Netflix or is it while trying to play any audio/video offline?
    3. Have you connected any external speakers to your computer?

This issue could be caused by cables that aren't connected properly, damaged drivers, incompatible drivers, sound settings, missing updates, and problems with your sound card.

    • Make sure that there is no phones, radio near to your computer as the frequency of these devices could interfere causing disturbance.
    • If you have connected speakers, make sure your speakers are correctly connected to your computer.
    • Many computers have three or more jacks that connect to a sound card or sound  processor, including a microphone jack, line-in jack, and line-out jack. Your speakers should be plugged in to the line-out jack. If you're not  sure which jack this is, try plugging your speakers in to each of the jacks to see if any of them produce sound.
    • In some cases, you can work around the problem by disabling optional speaker effects that are known as enhancements. If disabling speaker effects solves the problem, you might need to update your audio driver.

Please follow the methods mentioned below:

Method 1: Try disabling the Audio Enhancements from the speaker properties.

    1. Click on the speaker icon on the system tray on the taskbar from the Desktop Interface of the computer.
    2. Click on the link Mixer.
    3. It will open up a small window named Volume Mixer – Speakers.
    4. Under device, click on the Speakers icon to open the Speaker Properties window.
    5. Open the Enhancementstab.
    6. Disable all the audio enhancements by selecting the check box which says Disable all enhancements.
    7. Click on Applyand then OK.

You may disable all the enhancements and check if that fixes the issue.

    Method 2:

I would suggest you to follow all the steps suggested in the following link and check.

Thank you for helping me find the answer to my problem. Actually the problem was because of the wireless phone which was near my speakers. Thank you for identifying.
