Windows 8.1 Proxy settings keeps resetting

So I have upgraded my other laptop to Windows 8.1 but sadly that upgrade seems to be a downgrade. I cannot seem to get my internet working correctly. No matter what I seem to do my proxy settings seem to go back to using the proxy and having the port number "80". I can uncheck it and the internet will work for about a minute but after that it goes back to not working again with the same settings that I just recorected. I honestly cannot use my other laptop at all so sadly I cannot provide screen shots. I have tried the http://proxypac. thing and it does not seem to work sadly.

    Hello HidanxZetsu, ,

Thank you for replying with the status of the issue.

    1. Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the network adapter which was part of the suggestion in my previous response?

    2. Do you have any proxy settings to browser.

Method 1: You can reset the TCP/IP stack from the Command Prompt. Follow the steps.

    1. Press Windows +X.

    2. Click Command prompt (Admin mode)

    3. Type ‘netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt’

    4. Press Enter.

    5. Reboot the computer.

Method 2: I would suggest you to select the automatically detect settings options and uncheck the proxy and check if it works.

    1. go to the network settings.
    2. Automatically detect settings.

**Method 3:**Run Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if it helps.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. During this 10 days, it will remove all the virus infected files and folders. I suggest you to create a backup of your data and then Install Microsoft Safety Scanner.

Hope this information helps, please reply with the status of the issue for further assistance.

Sorry for the late reply but I have not been able to access my laptop for a while.

I did however have Hotspot but I removed it from my computer because i have no interest what so ever of sharing my WiFi.

The first method I have done multiple times without any resolve.

The second method was a temporary fix to the issue but yet my proxy still keep on resetting...

The third method, I did take a look at but was of little help.

Although this time i can provide screen shots to show what is going on with my proxy settings.

    lo HidanxZetsu,

    1. What is the error message you get while trying to access any website?
    2. Do you have Hotspot Shield application installed?

This issue could be due to proxy settings corrupted, I would suggest you to reset all proxy settings and see if it fixes the issue.

    Method 1:

Step 1: If you have installed any program related to any proxy on the computer you can uninstall using the following steps:

    1. Press Windows key + X key both together on the keyboard.
    2. Click on control panel.
    3. Program and features.
    4. uninstall any program related to proxy.

Step 2: To disable proxy follow the steps below:

    1. Under "Tools" in the browser tool bar select "Internet Options".

    1. In the "Internet Options" Window that pops up, click the "Connections" tab at the top.
    2. Click "LAN Settings" near the bottom of the "Connections" section.
    3. If the "Proxy server" checkbox is marked with a check, click it to deselect/uncheck it.
    4. Click "Ok" to close the "Local Area Network (LAN) Settings" window.
    5. Click "Ok" to close the "Internet Options" Window.

To disable proxy manually the above steps to disable from the internet explorer fails:

    1. Press windows key + C both together on the keyboard.
    2. Under Settings go to Network.
    3. View connection settings.
    4. Click on Network tab.
    5. Proxy - turn off proxy.

Method 2: If the issue still persists reset the proxy settings:

    1. Press Windows key + X key both together on the keyboard.
    2. Click on Command prompt(Admin).
    3. Type the below command and press enter.

    netsh winhttp reset proxy

Method 3: Follow the article below and troubleshoot network adaptor problems.

How do I fix network adapter problems?
