I used 7-zip www.7-zip.org
Simple setting to let it make CD sized chunks. 665,600kb
Or you could upload it to https://mega.com.nz and put a shortcut to it in your onedrive.

I've tried compressing the files using "send to ..." in file explorer but there is no option to set the new compressed file size to a desired size. It does it automatically which means they still may end up over 2GB which means I still can not upload it to Onedrive because Microsoft's onedrive will not upload files greater than 2GB? Argh

WinRAR!!!!! You probably already have it. If your not in file explorer, left on desktop icon or tile and open file location. Select with left click, right click, and if you see some books and the top one is purple (icon). you are all set to go. If not, CNet has the free version. Super easy to use in both directions. Unzip anything anywhere

7-zip has some settings for different levels of compression. Normal, Maximum, Ultra compression. But if its already a compressed file format of somekind... its not going to compress it additionally much more, usually.
So what you do is let it split it up into more manageable chunks... and they will be numbered and clicking any one will assemble the whole bunch into one file for extraction. To upload 2gb file takes a long time for me ... chances are my computer will fall asleep before that would finish. But something like CD sized chunks.. so what if computer sleeps. Its only one 665,000 kb chunk needing to re-upload rather than the whole 2gb. Same with downloading 2gb takes a while. Too long for people with slow connections.
Thx Mike. I've never used 7-zip. Windows 8.1 has a compress option but you can't adjust the size so my compressed files are still greater than 2GB. Is there another way using this feature on Windows 8.1? Does 7-zip allow you to nominate the compressed file size?
