Change Chinese Windows 8 PRC to English

Greetings

Is it possible to change windows 8 Chinese PRC to English? 

I live in Taiwan and desperately need to buy a new laptop, but am reluctant to go with Windows 8 because of the mixed reviews I have read on this topic.

Is it possible to change the language without having to purchase another version of windows? Or is this something that has stayed a problem for more than 2 years?

    It is more than the money. I simply cannot read the screens to upgrade it. I got a machine I cannot use and even return it as you need to speak chinese to amazon china to be able to return it.

    This issue should be addressed by the Microsoft team! There are many people living in Asia that aren't literate with Chinese and at a point in time will buy a computer. I'm aware there is the route of buying Windows PRO on top of the purchasing price of your computer, but I personally and I'm sure like many, don't want to pay that extra. It cuts into my budget for a laptop leaving me with having to buy a lower range laptop to run a larger operating system, plus I don't use any of the extras I'm paying for in Windows 8 PRO. I wish to buy a Microsoft computer, but will rather spend that extra money elsewhere. It has been 2 YEARS since this issue has been raised, but still no simple solution! How is this NOT an issue for Apple and Mac in Asia?

    Hi Bernard,

    I misunderstood you thinking that you are referring to Windows 8 PRO instead of PRC(People Republic of China) which is a single language edition. Hence, it will not be possible to include the option to change the display language. To confirm if it is a single language edition of Windows 8, complete the following steps:

    1. From the desktop, press Windows Key + R
    2. Type winver
    3. Select OK

    If you see Windows 8 Single Language, you cannot change the display language.

    Is it possible to use Windows 8 PRC in many languages?  I'm not enquiring about Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 RT.
