cannot activate Print Screen in Windows 8.1 - tried Alt PrtSc; CTRL PrtSc: Shift PrtSc

Hi,

I just got a new laptop with Windows 8.1 on it. I've tried repeatedly to use the Print Screen function of Microsoft Office 2010, but it just won't work.

I've tried Alt PrtSc; CTRL PrtSc: Shift PrtSc.

I've tried to print the screen and paste it to Paint, but it just won't work.

PLEASE HELP.

Oh, is there a SIMPLE way I can create a clickable PAINT icon for my toolbar. The Windows 8 operating system is a horror.

Thank you,

Karen

    @Karen,

I can't comment on the issue you seem to experience with the PrtSc key as it works as expected on my side.

Just wanted to let you know that [Win]+[PrtSc] creates a snapshot of the entire screen and saves it in your ..\Pictures\Screenshots folder.

    Cheers

    Lz.

I use Windows 8.1 ( sooo sorry I upgraded from Windows 8 ), but I use LightShot & my print screen button actually works ~ even with Windows 8.1   The program is a free download & is super easy to use. The link is below. Hope it works as good for you as it does for me!

    Cindy,

Mine doesn't work at all. But a reply here (when I first asked that question) told me about Snipping Tool. I use that now and it's pretty good.

I do find though that if I'm on a webinar, I can't print those screens - not sure why. And, that's one of the main uses I had for print screen. Aside from that I use Snipping Tool a lot.

Give it a try and see how you like it.

    Have a good one,

    Karen

Liz, thanks for the input. Yeah, mine just doesn't work at all with Windows 8.1, but I think I have 8.1.2, the guy who set it up when I bought it downloaded the next version or update to it.

Not sure if that's why mine doesn't work. I hate updates and new versions. My PrtSc worked fine before I got this new laptop.

    UGH.

Nancy B., thanks so much for your response. I'll give LightShot a try - thanks for the link.

I can't believe there's no microsoft fix for the prtsc problem. I use it all the time.

MS 8.1 is so much more time consuming to use than 7. Aside from features not working and having to go to Search to get the programs, the sidebar tool bar is always popping out when I'm working.

What on earth were they thinking.

    Thanks again,

    Karen
