When trying to install Windows Cleanup Utility (msicuu2.exe) this error message appears.  I'm trying to install Java but get the Java Setup error 1723: There is a problem with this windows installer package.  A DLL required for this install to conplete could not be run....

I have Windows Home Premium and it looks like I have the Windows Installer-Unicode Version 5.0.7600.16385

Any steps to fix would be most appreciated.

Registering the modules (64-bit and 32-bit) using Regsvr32.exe should recreate the missing registry keys.

My McCaffey uninstaller was broken so I used Revo to uninstall so now that vbs reg key is completely missing. All the info I find is how to restore the reg key but I cant find anything on what to do if the registry key is completely missing.

I think it's because even Admins only have read access to some registry entries too. Try the steps on my post earlier. They incorporate things I learnt from the registry access issue in this thread:

Cheers Noel, but completely removing McAfee isn't an option for me in my work environment, McAfee is a mandatory install.

So for those lucky enough to un-install McAfee, the MCPR option sounds great.

But for those people that have to live with McAfee, unfortunately the messy registry tweaks are our only option I know of...

Unless ofcourse McAfee look into the issue and resolve it, which would be very nice too :) Well, I guess they will eventually, once someone chases them up enough about it.
