What is Shockwave Flash? How do I fix the errors I keep getting. Is there a safe fix from your company?

[Original Title: Shockwave Flash]

For those preaching that Shockwave Flash does not exist, I copied the following from IE add-in manager:

    Name: Shockwave Flash Object

Publisher: Microsoft Windows 3rd party Component

    Type: ActiveX Control

    Architecture: 32-bit and 64-bit

    Version: 15.0.0.189

    File date: ‎Monday, ‎September ‎29, ‎2014, ‏‎3:49 PM

    Date last accessed: ‎Today, ‎November ‎26, ‎2014, ‏‎3 hours ago

    Class ID: {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}

    Use count: 157685

    Block count: 22

    File: Flash.ocx

    Folder: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash

    Amen!

There is no such thing as "Shockwave Flash". The Shockwave and Flash Players are separate programs which enable you to play/see web content created with the full Shockwave and Flash creators. Since you didn't mention what errors you are getting, I can't address them except to suggest that you go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and remove any Flash and Shockwave entries. Then go to Adobe's website and download/install the latest Shockwave and Flash Players. They are free. You will need to install two types of Flash Player if you are using an alternate browser such as Firefox. You want the regular Flash Player for Internet Explorer and the Player for plugin-based browsers for Firefox.

(As above) there is no Shockwave Flash player.  There is a Flash® Player and a Shockwave player.  They are not free; they are licensed and freely available.  (There's a difference.)

To re-install the Adobe® (formerly Macromedia) Shockwave player:

First, uninstall Shockwave using the Add or Remove Programs control panel, or run: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11\uninstaller.exe" to uninstall your current version of Shockwave.  (It may be in a differently numbered Shockwave directory such as 9 or 10, etc. depending on the age of your Shockwave installation.)

Then go to http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/ to download and install the latest Shockwave player.

To uninstall and re-install the Adobe® (formerly Macromedia) Flash® Player:

for the 32-bit Flash Player, download:

        http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_32bit.exe

for the 64-bit Flash Player, download:

        http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_64bit.exe

To get the current 32-bit Flash Player for plug-in based browswers, download:

      http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_32bit.exe

To get the current 64-bit Flash Player for plug-in based browsers, download:

      http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_64bit.exe

To get the current 32-bit Flash Player for Internet Exporer (ActiveX), download:

      http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax_32bit.exe

To get the current 64-bit Flash Player for Internet Explorer (ActiveX), download:

      http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax_64bit.exe

Note: The above URLs supersede any older links without the 32/64bit designations!

Close all browsers and progams that use browser components (e.g. IM and some gadgets) and run the uninstaller downloaded above.  (Note: I believe running the 64-bit uninstaller (if you can) will remove both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Flash.)  Then run the appropriate installer(s).   If you use both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox or Opera (for instance), you must run both the plug-in and ActiveX installers.

Note: Be advised, when using the *Adobe Flash Player download web page* from a 64-bit browswer, you download the 64-bit Flash Player installer.  It installs Flash Players on 32-bit and 64-bit version of the browser if both are present. This is also true if using a 64-bit installer from the above list.

If it is not installed, then if a website require it to be install a message will come up to install it. you might download it from Adobe website or allow internet explorer message to install it. Make sure it shows a orange shield and NOT red one.
