Canon cp-200 not seen as printer in windows 8

My Canon cp-200 card printer (4x6 dye sublimation photo printer) shows up in Win8 as "Canon cp-200" in "other devices" but is not recognized as a printer.  There is no Win8  driver for the printer, unfortunately.

Anyone know if there is any chance of getting this thing to work?

Thanks,

Craig

    Craig,

Unfortunately, there is no direct way to get this to work in any O/S later than WinXP as Canon does not provide drivers for Vista or later - 32 bit or 64 bit.

    There are two potential solutions:

    1. If your system supports the special "Windows XP" mode, you can install that, run Windows XP, and install the drivers there.  Once done, you're golden!
    2. If you cannot use the special "Windows XP" mode, all you need to do is go to VMware's web site and download their (free!) VMware Player software.  After you install it, you can install Windows XP within VMware.  Once that is done, you can install the drivers into the WinXP image, plug in the printer, and have a wonderful time.

It's a real pity that companies like Canon won't take the time to make their existing equipment compatible with later operating systems.

    What say ye?
