HP LaserJet 1320 PCL5 incompatible with Windows 8.1?

I have been unable to print on my HP LaserJet 1320 PCL5 since connecting it to a new HP Desktop running Windows 8.1. I downloaded and installed HP's UNiversal Printer Driver, but that doesn't help. Is it that the 32 bit printer is incompatible with the 64 bit WIndows 8.1? This HP 1320 is a great printer and has given me spectacular service for quite a few years and is still in excellent repair, and when connected to Windows XP or 7 it ran perfectly well. What do I need to do to get it running with Win 8.1? It's in too good repair to discard. Runs like new, until we got Win 8.1

    Hi,

    Yes, bit version of a driver plays an important role you need to install the drivers matching with the bit version of your computer. I suggest you to download the drivers given in the link below. Download the correct version of Driver depending on the bit version of your computer.

    Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit) downloads

    Or

    Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit) downloads

    If you are still unable to use the printer then I would suggest you to follow the steps given in the link below and try to install the driver in compatibility mode and check.
