File called "program" listed as a file under my startup applications in Windows 8

When I open my task manager and look at my startup items, there is a file entitled "program". When you right click on it the properties is grayed out as well as open file location. I ran sfc/scannow but the results returned with no problems. Is there another way I can figure out what this "program" is?

I had this and was concerned it was malware. But I found that right clicking on one of the shown categories e.g. "Name" or "Status" you can enable many other categories. By enabling "Command Line" which is at the bottom, you can see where the program is located. In my case it was related to the folding at home client.

I found it to work in Windows 8.1 by doing the following in the image below. Choosing "Command line" give the directory path to the file e.g. here it was Bootcamp.exe was the mystery Program.  Hope this helps.

I have the same question, I'm going to contribute by posting a screenshot; this is Windows 8.1.

    • I don't know if this helps, but I uninstalled F@H Client, and I don't have MoboGenie, or Persistent Agent UI.
    • I just tried uninstalling a bunch of guesses.
    • Yet the program is still there, I'm obviously concerned about malware.

I can disable it which I have done but beyond that I cant do anything else I don't like strange things like this sometimes benign but sometimes can lead to major issues any help would be appreciated thanks.

I was able to see my start up information with the information you provided. Oddly enough, in the software environment under startup it shows 11 programs which all correlate to what is being shown through the normal startup manager. However, the normal starup manager shows 12 programs enabled including the mystery "program". So the program through software environment is not showing the process called "program". Any other thoughts?
