how to improve the touchpad performance

Original Title:

Touchpad interface

Hi

I bought a Samsung chronos 7 windows 8.1. The touch pad is 'glass' and too slippery for me. difficult to drag things a long way. There was a nice interface for the touchpad and I tried to fix it from there, but did not manage, so I asked Samsung support for help and they updated the driver and installed synaptic, which offferes very little control. And so I lost the nice touchpad interface/driver  that came with the priginal windows, and I cannot find it on the net.

The left button is too large ( more than half the trouchpad surface), the glass too smooth to drag

I installed shell and none of the gestures work

I would really appreciate any advice how to improve the touchpad performance: help to improve its drag, return the original touchpad driver/interface/, change button size, imporve guestures and drag)  But any of the above will help!! this is making me hate my new computer.....

thanks

Jim

Is this the version Samsung sent you to get?

It says it's for Windows 7, but I found it on the model laptop page you mentioned. Even though not strictly for 8, this driver will usually work fine and should give you all the functionality that Samsung originally shipped.

thanks, that is one step forwards....

Samsung only seem to know the synaptic, but when i dowload the latest it is nowhere like what I had originally. Does anyone have a Samsung to look at the name of driver or interface?

    thanks

The touchpad settings are controlled by the company that built it (Windows itself has no ability to set these because it's a hardware driver interface).  So if Samsung uses a Synaptics brand touchpad in the laptop they build, only the Synaptics driver they support will work.  So if those options aren't providing what you want, you might want to get a different model computer entirely.
