* Original Title: Cisco Systems

I have three programs installed in my computer that I did not install. They are Cisco EAP-FAST Module, Cisco LEAP Module, and Cisco PEAP Module, they installed at some point and I was not aware that they installed should I delete these and what program or application may they be using. I am not aware of anything that I need them for. Should I uninstall them? Internet articles say that Cisco Systems, Inc is a union between them and MS, I want to uninstall all three what may stop working?

    Hi Calvin,

    1.      Have you ever connected to a domain network?

    2.      Have you used CISCO products earlier?

    3.      Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

Cisco EAP-FAST Module is an Authentication via Secure Tunneling (EAP-FAST), an EAP type from Cisco Systems. Extensible Authentication Protocol-Flexible Authentication via Secure Tunneling (EAP-FAST) is a publicly accessible IEEE 802.1X EAP type developed by Cisco Systems. EAP-FAST provides protection from a variety of network attacks.

If you haven’t used any CISCO products and not connected to a domain network, you may go ahead and delete them.

Please follow these steps to delete these programs:

    1.      Press Windows Key + W, type uninstall a program.

    2.      Tap or click Uninstall a program.

    3.      Find the programs Cisco EAP-FAST Module, Cisco LEAP Module, and Cisco PEAP Module.

    4.      Right click on each program and click on Uninstall.

    5.      Restart the computer and check if they have completely removed.

To ensure your computer is free from virus and spyware, you may run an online scan.

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Hope this information helps. If you have any concerns, please let us know.

    Hey guys,

the LEAP, PEAP, and EAP-FAST modules are often installed by software that come with WiFi Adapters. They sometimes even come with other kinds of software that are designed for networks. They do no harm and the reason they are installed is to make the software more compatible or even make the hardware more efficient.

Hope this helps and if someone spots an error in my post please let me know.

I was having the same problems you described with my laptop and found this trio of programs on my harddrive.  "CiscoPEAP sounds like spyware to me.  When I went to delete it I received a message from Microsoft stating"Do you want Unknown to make changes to your harddrive"  Which scared me into not deleting it because I thought I would be allowing an unknown entity to make changes to my harddrive.  After trying a few other things I came back and clicked "Yes" to the Microsoft question and the Microsoft system then deleted this program.  I did the same with the other two Cisco system programs LEAP and another one.  I deleted several other unused programs which I knew what they were.  But they didn't have the dire bold yellow warning pop up when I went to delete them.  There is something fishy about this program.  Maybe it was at one time legitimate and then was messed up by a hacker?  Anyway, my laptop is running 100% better.  While this stuff was on there it was going really slow and would stall out and just freeze up.

I've also recently found this trio of programs on my hard-drive. I can say with some certainty I didn't install them.

My laptop has been in a perpetual state of collapse since Cisco introduced it to their software. It would run for 3hours, then crash, it would run for ten minutes, then crash. I eventually tracked the crashing issue down to EAP-FAST by checking my Windows error log. It was causing a 'Critical Error', and taking everything thing with it. The answer Mr. Khan gives, is exactly what I did, and in my case it has completely cured the quite major problem I was experiencing.

    Great advice.

    M
