Can't delete a folder in Temp

There's a folder in C:\Windows\Windows\Temp named da3e7f31-be9c-44fa-aab8-5ac7412aa87e that I haven't been able to find a way to delete.

When I try it says I will need administrator permission.  When I click on Continue it says I require permission from Administrators, but there is no Continue, only Try Again and Cancel.

Thanks for the reply.  I did not see this in the documentation I looked at (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/253597).

It did say this:  "You can safely delete temporary files that have not been modified in over a week."  But that does not seem to imply that they won't be deleted for 7 days.

You're welcome.  I, actually, have the sageset command configured to run automatically every night as or in Scheduled Tasks.  That way, w/out any daily effort or remembering, I am assured of 'junk being kept clean out of my machine on a consistent, regular, basis.

This is in addition to running CCleaner, almost daily, as well.  Thus, the system is kept clean & running well, always.

    Cheers,

    Drew

The command prompt I gave him is the Disc Clean-up but, goes deeper & wider than the Disc Clean-up you show that we both know.

I would have given him the Disc Clean-up you should, that we both know, except that the instructions I gave him do a more thorough job, a more extensive job.

And CCleaner is not anti-virus, at all.

I know for a fact (don't know where you looked) but, MS & its Partners, like myself & good IT pros do recommend Malwarebytes & CCleaner.  They are both 2 very highly respected products.

    Cheers,

    Drew

1st of all, yes, I have seen this type of thing happen in the past.  You can, also, just delete the Folder.

2nd, CCleaner is nothing but, good.  Strongly, always, recommend it in general & to all my clients.  When I build, set up or overhaul a customer's machine it goes in as 'standard equipment'.  Only use the Cleaner part of it (the broom icon) and UNcheck the Jumplists item; other than that leave it completely @ default settings.

    Here's another solution:

    > cmd, Run as admin

    cleanmgr sageset:1

    Hit Enter

Check the box, except for the last 2

    Hit OK

    In cmd, again

    cleanmgr sagerun:1

    Hit Enter

I will, also, suggest it is not critical to anything that this item in question be deleted.

    Cheers,

    Drew

Thanks for the reply.  I tried Shift+Delete and I tried Safe Mode, but they didn't work.  I started to download CCleaner, but I didn't like the looks of it, so have not done that at this point.

I hope there will be some other things to try.  Hard to understand why there should be trouble deleting things in Temp.

    Try using CCleaner

    OR

Try highlighting it & hit Shift+Delete

    OR

Try deleting it in Safe Mode.  Will probably have success.

    Cheers,

    Drew
