I couldn't find any software/drivers on Fujitsu support pages for that discontinued scanner, what I could find seemed to indicate it was designed for win9*
So I'm puzzled, perhaps provide a link to the software/drivers pages

I have a Win 7 PRO 64 bit PC connected to a Fujitsu 4120C2dj scanner that I have been using for over a year with no problems. It worked fine until this last Monday when communication with the scanner now fails. I have been through all of the steps to remove the existing files and scanner and then download the recommended driver from Fujitsu. When I go thru the process of installing the software, it all looks good but when I go to update the driver which works OK. However it works OK until I restart the computer, then the communication problem comes back.
The driver downloaded is ver 9.18.709 but the one installed is 9.20.605. I cannot find the driver I down loaded. Any help would be appreciatedl

leefrost,
thanks for the suggestion. I used the utility but could not find any driver listed from fujitsu of anything for this scanner.
I used the 32 bit and the 64 bit utility both to no avail.
IU found the driver set up info in the Coimp0ter-windows-fjmini folder. However the Vista driver that I downloaded from the fujitsu site is not in that folder and never gets installed.
This fjmini folder may be MS versions of the fujitsu drivers and seem to be IA drivers. I need Twain drivers for special remote scanner operations.
I am going to try some other things today, then give up until I can be on site with this PC ncxt week. thanks for you suggestion, I like that utility.
The fj4120c2dj is listed under the discontinued section of the support site. Recommendations from other folks on the community indicate that I should download the Vista driver listed 9.18.709 and install it. I have followed those instructions completely but the referenced driver does not get installed. The most recent driver is listed as 9.20.605 and is in the Windows-fjmini folder as a x64 driver for this 4120 scaner and is installed every time. However, it will work once installed until I log out or restart the PC, then the communication error comes up again.
I am prepared to buy a later model scanner but I am not sure that will fix this problem. I am also prepared to restore the system folder as a last resort.
thanks for you response.

There appear to be some Vista drivers at the Fujitsu - Global site. Perhaps the OP will provide more information --> http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/fi-4x20c2.html
