It is like the keys have been swapped and it is becoming increasingly frustrating, so is there a way to manually change what the keys actually input or what? Is anyone else's computer doing this?

You have the US keyboard layout set.

Open the "Region and Language" applet in Contrtol Panel, click the third tab labelled "Keyboards and Languages", click the "Change keyboards..." button and select "English (United Kingdom" from the dropdown box near the top. If it is not there, click the "Add..." button to add it to the list in the lower part of the window, then it should be available in the dropdown selector.

You can remove the "English (US)" entry from the list once you've set the default to UK if you like.

I've just realised that I have this the wrong way around.

You have the UK layout selected and you need to change it to US.

    What a klutz!

    THIS IS AN EASY FIX

You have accidentally switched from the UK to the US keyboard in Microsoft Windows. In fact, you can toggle between the two layouts by pressing Alt-Shift. It's easy to do this by accident so the problem comes up often. If you turn your PC off at night, it will restart with the correct settings, so the problem may appear self-correcting.

Another thing to do is try a different keyboard.

Yes, the user should go and find a keyboard with the UK layout.

    Outstanding!
