Good Day! I've recently discovered that I may obtain a copy of Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro through DreamSpark. My question is, what is the difference of the embedded version against the regular Windows 8.1 Pro version? Can the embedded version be installed and used like the regular version? Thanks in advance to those who will help me. :)

Yes, but why would you want to? Its a specialized edition for specific industries that are building equipment for specialized markets.

The regular Windows 8.1 Pro version is more than adequate for single user needs and offers better support and troubleshooting if required.

    More info:

Windows 8.1 Industry Pro is not a retail product, its an embedded edition of Windows 8.1 used in specialized embedded systems such as set top boxes, Kiosks for example. You won't find it on a PC or Laptop or sold in a retail store. Only volume license customers have access to it.

**Windows** Embedded 8 **Industry** | **Microsoft**

Thought I'd save myself some money from buying regular Windows 8 by acquiring an embedded version through DreamSpark. :D
