Issue with the HP P2055DN printer.

I use printer mentioned above often printing 2-sided documents. The printer is connected by RJ-45 to router-switch and notebook prints documents sending them by WLAN connection. After some (2-4) days the printer in Control Panel "forgets" about duplex. I have to enter the Control Panel and switch setting of duplex to "Installed". It works fine some days and the problem occurs again.

Somebody can help me?

I have the same problem with a 2605DN

I haven't tested this but the Reg key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\HP Color LaserJet 2605 PCL6 Class Driver\DsDriver which has a value printduplexsupported that needs to be set to 01. If you set it in the printer manager then save the reg key by doing right click export on DSdriver in the left panel it will give you a file you can double click to set the key as part of your start up or desktop.

That's funny because I actually just did that.  I've rebooted a half dozen times now and the duplex setting is staying as "Installed" like it should.

Looks like manually changing to the universal driver does fix it.

Srett, I have this problem too... the printer settings are forgotten over and over which is most annoying. I am not familiar with "roaming profiles" but this problem happens on my non-portable desktop running Windows 8.

I have the same exact issue, but with the P2015DN.

The problem is not that I don't understand how to enable duplex printing.  The issue is that Windows loses track of that setting, and duplex is disabled after a few days.  I've already re-enabled it several times by now via the "Customize your printer" dialog.

I'm thinking this might be an issue with the roaming profiles in Windows, and that this particular setting is not roamed with the rest of the printer options.  I'm not really sure how to test that, though.  I haven't seen any pattern yet with how it gets reset (reboot, etc.), I just notice that it's suddenly gone after having just used it recently.

    Hi Zbyszek,

I think the default setting in your Printer to support the Duplexing hardware is set to 'off'.

After selecting ‘Installed’ option for 'Duplex unit (for 2-sided printing)' from the 'Device Settings' tab on 'Printer Properties'. You may also check if there is a 'Duplex Hardware' or '2-sided printing' option available under the ‘Advanced’ tab in 'Printing Preferences'. Also, on the 'Finishing' tab, select 'Print on both sides'

Also, turn off the manual duplex printing and turn on the Auto Duplex option in your printer properties.

I got these threads from HP forums. These might help you.
