USB Ports won't recognize new (and some old) devices

The USB ports on my Lenovo Z565 laptop will not recognize any new devices that I plug in. I've tried deleting the USB controllers and restarting...they all reinstalled fine. I plug in a wireless mouse that I've used for a long time--it works perfectly. However, when I plug in some new equipment I have (Lenovo Wireless headphones and the SLICK Cooling Fan with USB Ports), the computer says it cannot install the drivers for those units. Also tried unplugging the laptop, removing the battery and restarting, as one site suggested. No dice. I also had this exact same issue with a new Logitech Wireless Mouse. I've tried all 3 of the new devices (Logitech mouse, Lenovo wireless headphones and the SLICK fan/USB port) on another laptop we have running Windows 7--all worked fine and immediately.

The USB ports aren't shot on my laptop--when I plug items in, they will charge and get power. Plus, as mentioned, I have a wireless USB mouse that I've been using forever--the computer still recognizes this unit. Even after deleting the USB controllers, I plug this wireless mouse back in and the driver loads immediately. The flipside is I also tried plugging in the HP D4360 printer that I've used ever since I had the laptop and it's always worked fine--now that driver for that isn't found either. The other 3 units it will not recognize or load drivers. When I trouble shoot, I get a message that the drivers for the various units can't be found. I'm sure I can track down the HP printer driver, however, I've looked for the other three and can't find anything.

Man is this frustrating. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Drivers aren't found. When you plug in a device and it's accepted, you get a 2-toned audio confirmation. When I plug them in, I get a 3-note monotone audio to tell me it's not recognizing the device.
    2. Lenovo Ideapad Z565
    3. Not that I'm aware of
    4. No, no software discs
    5. Yes, the devices work on every other computer I've tried them on -- 3 different laptops, all work fine

I tried the 3 Methods you recommend above, none of them did anything.
