Can't download MP3 as I can't change the save as setting to mp3

I'm trying to download an mp3 file by "save as" into My Music folder.

The problem is that the file type option is showing HTML Document with an option to change to All Files.

How can I change the save as setting to mp3?

(I've tried adding .mp3 to the file name).

Thanks in anticipation of some wise words.

Many websites have links that appear to be to, for example, mp3 files that actually take you to another webpage and it that second page that has the download link.  The file type options you are seeing indicate that this is the case with the mp3 you want.

Just click on the link to go to the webpage they want to take you to and download it from there.  [As you hover your cursor over the link before clicking on it, you will see where the link is pointing on your IE Status bar]

Could you just clarify - where are you trying to download the mp3 file from?

    Thanks R

Right - I have tried that link and the site was very slow to load up (and not recognized by my Secure Search as 'safe' - nor was it marked as dangerous I hasten to add) and when I clicked on track links they weren't working at all so it may be an issue with the site rather than your computer...Try doing something from this site (which is shown as secure and working ok for me) and see what you get.

NB I was asked to download a Media Player 12 update - I wouldn't do that until Windows Update suggests it, but it could be a reason why things aren't working properly.

Let me know how you get on - or mark as answered if you think this is the solution.

    Thanks - R

It's from a file-share site that's worked ok for months till now. I think the problem might be with my save as or library settings but I've checked that my music library is optimised for music.

    the site is www.mp3olimp.org
