Window displays off screen when 2nd monitor is no longer connected.

I frequently attach a monitor to my laptop to provide additional display. A lot of the software I use has "tools" that appear in a pop up window whenever activated. Whenever I have a monitor attached I drag those pop up windows on to the 2nd display. The software seems to "remember" where I last located those windows because from that point on anytime I activate that tool it will appear on the 2nd display. The problem is that the pop up window still shows up on the 2nd screen even if there isn't a monitor attached. I found some advice online but it seemed to be for a situation where you expand something that was minimized on your taskbar and it appears on a second display that is no longer attached. In my situation the software appears on my laptops display, its just the pop up windows that appear on the display that is no longer attached. So my question is, how do I recover from this situation without having to connect a monitor and drag the pop up windows back on to my main display?

Try; win Key+shift+L or R arrow

    Or

Hold the Shift Key, rt click on the taskbar offending app icon, rt click, Move..........use the arrow key to move it back

I disconnected my second monitor and gave this a try.

    Win Key+shift+L or R arrow --------- Didn't do anything.

Hold the Shift Key, rt click on the taskbar offending app icon, rt click, Move..........use the arrow key to move it back ------ Moved the program visible on my main screen but had no effect on the pop up window displaying on the disconnected screen.

Thanks for trying, let me know if you can think of anything else to try. It seems like there should be hot keys to pull all extended displays back to the main screen.

It should do provided you remember to hold the keys down while you move ( I just tested that functionality)

Unless you mean a pop up window generated by a program which is shown on the visible screen and if that's the case it is a function of your video display properties, unfortunately win7 dual monitor mode options have been degraded and that functionality has been removed, unless possibly you are using Matrox multi display hardware/software

Unless you mean a pop up window generated by a program which is shown on the visible screen --------Yes that is the issue I'm having. So are you saying there's no way to move the pop up window to the main screen without connecting a second monitor?
