Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 for Windows 7 x64-based Systems update will not install

Help please!

I have had this one update fail, time and time again.  I tried ignoring it but it is required to install certain other softwares.

I've tried 4 different tools from Microsoft that were recommended to help with this problem including Microsoft fixit (2 versions) and Windows Update Diagnostic cab.

I have gotten different errors of the 2 digit variety like 17 (the current error).

I've tried to download and install dotNetFx44_Full_setup.exe  and gotten CRC error.

any ideas???

I should mention that I did unistall .NET and then installed .NET 4 client.  But still no joy with 4.5.1

    Clean boot your PC http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Then download/save before running the installation file, see if that helps

    Tried the .Net repair tool?

A crc error is usually caused by a corrupted download, you did download/save and not download/run?

Thanks, I went to try this one, yes, I downloaded first.  When I ran it got the CRC error extracting the file.  Clearly this part of the problem.  Both files can't be corrupt!

    Strange.
