I am wondering what is the best program to scan for spyware and or malicious programs.  I now have Antimalware Bytes and Spybot S&D.  I also am using Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.  I don't know, maybe that is enough or maybe I'm running on overkill with all these programs.   There are so many programs offered, I would like to know what the pros, that are members of the Microsoft Community, would recommend using.  OS is Windows 7

Thank you in advance for any advice.

    Thank You Dinesh...

You are absolutely right on the 50 50 rule.  It does not pay to click to quickly.  I do use the Malicious Software Removal Tool and I will check into the  Microsoft Safety Scanner.  I believe I had used it once before but had not thought of it again until you mentioned it.  Thank you for your reply.  I have been away from the computer for a while and I am sorry for my slow reply back to you.

    Le Boule...

Thank you for your advice.  I am presently using Malwarebytes along with Kaspersky.  I also did your recommended reading.  I can see that there is no perfect Program to use and largely depends on the user.  All good reading and makes sense.  Thank you again for your reply.  I have been away from my computer for a while.  Sorry for the delay on my reply.

Try the following Microsoft free Software, which detect & remove all known viruses from PC.

    • Microsoft Security Essentials or, for Windows 8, Windows Defender

    • Microsoft Safety Scanner

Microsoft's own Malicious Software Removal Tool. http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx

Take these steps to help prevent infection on you PC http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/mmpc/shared/prevention.aspx

Note: Install multiple anti-virus software may cause System slow, conflicts leads to system crash, & more problems. Recommended to keep one anti-virus software with up-to-date, scheduled scan & real-time protection enabled.

Recommend : Do a little researching any unknown programs in your favorite search engine prior to installing them. Be cautious of all web browsing and Internet downloads, many unfamiliar websites may infect your computer/ drop adware type malware through drive-by download technique without your knowledge.

    100% protection = 50% of antimalware + 50% of your awareness
