Hi chris-nunn,
When you edit photos in Photo gallery, it saves a copy of the original in the original photo folder if it has been set to do so.
Please check it at File (or Alt+F) > Options > originals
Hope this helps. Thanks.

Yes, you can copy all the pictures and edit the copy.

Brilliant, works a treat.
Next time I will make a copy of all pictures and edit the copy. You don't see anything wrong with this do you ?
I'm not worried about storage. I will copy to disc and erase from computer.
Thanks again, Chris.
Original photos were in a folder in photos.
When I edited photos I added an extra letter to the end of image number then saved.
This changed the image in the folder to the edited image. I wanted to keep edited and unedited copies.
Thanks for your help, hope you can help me further.
Best wishes, Chris.

Where are the original photos saved?
To save the edited photos, you have to just close the edited photo and Windows will prompt you to either save, don’t save or cancel. Choose save and select a desired location to save the photos.
You need not save the original photo when photos are already in the computer. If the original photos are not in the computer, then you can save the photo by pressing Windows key + letter S. By doing this Windows will prompt you to either save, don’t save or cancel. Choose save and select a desired location to save the photos.
