(Original title: dplayx.dll)

Recently, I tried to play a game called Sonic World (fanmade), but I needed directplay. So when I load it, doesn't work and it says something about dplayx.dll. And after doing some stuff, I realized I don't have that, and just wondering where can I download it from?

Hi Omari,

The ‘dplayx.dll’ file is one of many files contained in the DirectX. Since DirectX is utilized by most Windows based games and advanced graphics programs, the errors related to this file would occur when trying to play games.

I suggest you to perform the troubleshooting steps below and see if it helps:

Perform System File Checker

System file Checker determine whether the issues you are experiencing on your computer are caused by one or more system files.

You can refer to the following Microsoft article to repair corrupt files using SFC tool. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Refer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

Refer to the link below and install the latest version of DirectX and see if the issue fixes:

SFC did not find any integrity violations on my system, but I still can't launch Sonic World; I get the same error: "The dynamic link library 'DPLAYX.dll' could not be found".

I can't reinstall DirectX since I'm on Windows 10 and it appears those versions of DirectX are delivered via system updates.

Is there anything else I can do, for instance separately reinstall DPLAYX.dll?
