Google Chrome application not listed in Programs and Features

My computer uses Windows 8.1 64 bit.  I have had problems with Google Chrome--getting Error 3 when trying to update Chrome.  I have unistalled and reinstalled it and get the same message.  Have also signed on as a Guest since I am aware there is an issue running Chrome under administrator.  When I go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, Chrome is not listed so cannot do the uninstall.  Chrome, however, is listed on the start menu under programs.  Chrome runs ok but will not update.  Why is it not listed in Programs and Features and Revo Unistaller?

Not being listed means that the Chrome uninstall routine was not registered with the control panel.  I can't speculate on why or how that happened.

I would recommend manually deleting the Chrome folder.  Right-click the icon on the Start screen, go to "Open File Location", which opens where the shortcut is inside the Start menu folders.  Right-click that again, and once more choose "open file location", which will find the real chrome.exe (not a shortcut).  Go up one level and delete the entire Chrome folder.

    Shawn,

Did all of your above steps.  Then restarted and reinstalled Google Chrome.  Have the same result, it is not listed in Programs and Features or Revo Uninstaller.

I did a little more cleanup including the registry and drive C.  Chrome has been reinstalled and is working correctly.  When I click on about Google Chrome it updates.  However, Google Chrome is not listed in Programs and Features.

Hi! I had the same problem, But later I could figure it out that the way you might have installed chrome could have been from a pop up or any other similar looking web page. It was in  my Program Files(x86). by the parent folder names as "Setmy" which is not an Google trusted name. Thank you.

    Regards,

    Oaj
