Setup Wizard ended Prematurely

I am trying to install BBc Iplayer Downloader and when I try and install the programe (both normally and 'run as administrator') I get the error message 'BBC iPlayer Downloads Setup Wizard ended prematurely' as shown below:

I have also tried installing two other pieces of software for my Samsung monitor and they do not install either (but for these, an error message like the one below does not pop up, nothing happens)

Can anyone help?

    Hi,

I would suggest you to create new user account and then try installing the BBC Iplayer and check if the issue persists.

    Create a user account

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-vista

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other issues with Windows in future.

    Hi Michael,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

What happens when you click on Finish button?

The issue could be due to some third party programs causing the issue. I would suggest you to boot the computer in clean boot. Clean boot will eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Follow How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot from article KB929135 to reset the computer to normal mode.

Post us the results after you try the above steps.

    Hi,

Are you able to install all the other programs?

If you are able to install all the other programs, then I would suggest you to install ‘BBC iPlayer’ in compatibility mode and see if that helps.

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other issues with Windows in future.
